Oracle Park's Ghosts Ate Detroit's Lunch and Charged Them for the Bag
FINAL · Detroit Tigers 2 @ San Francisco Giants 5
San Francisco turned a shaky start into a comfortable 5-2 win over Detroit on Tuesday, leaving the Tigers to wonder what exactly happened out there.
Rafael Devers did the heavy lifting for the Giants, going 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI — which is the kind of efficient, destructive afternoon that makes a team wish they'd just stayed on the bus. Meanwhile Kevin McGonigle went 3-for-4 for Detroit, because nothing says 'tough loss' like your guy absolutely raking while the scoreboard laughs at you.
Keider Montero took the loss after surrendering all five Giants runs across six innings, which is a lot of work for not a lot of reward. JT Brubaker got the start for San Francisco, lasted exactly one inning, and somehow came out on the winning side. Outcomes are funny like that.
